The Palm Iso Trick Using a Fushigi Ball
The Fushigi Ball is a hot new that can be used in the physical art of contact juggling. CJ, also known as contact juggling is the skill of being able to roll a ball over you hands, arms, and body to make it do different tricks and optical illusions. We have all seen this done on TV or at fairs but have never really tried to do it ourselves. In this article I want to give you a brief description on how to perform on of the most basic tricks of contact juggling, the steady one ball palm isolation.
The first thing you will need to be able to pull off this of course is a CJ ball, and we recommend the Fushigi Magic Gravity Ball. The Fushigi ball is really two balls in one, and when used properly it can give the appearance of defying the laws of gravity. The ball comes with a detailed instructional DVD which walks you through the steps of how to use it. Once the one ball palm iso is masted with the Fushigi you will be able to give the appearance that the ball is floating.
In order to master the palm iso you need to really become familiar with how your hand is structured. You must be able to break it down in to is smallest components. You can do this in your spare time while watching TV or when taking a break from homework. First notice that your palm is much different than the back of your hand. You should notice a small circle of joints that are made up of the center of the palm, base of your thumb, middle finger flat, ringer finger flat, the pinky flat, and then back to the center of your palm. The five points of contact can make a circle for the Fushigi call to move.
All you do is practice moving the ball between these points in both directions until is very smooth with not hitches or jerks of the ball. You should be able to learn how to transition to each of the five points and make a small circle. With a little practice you will be able to do this in both directions very smoothly. What can really help is practicing in front of a mirror, as this will show you any areas that need improvement. The mirror is the same image that someone else will see as you perform, so this is the image you want to polish and smooth out.
You must know that the key to being successful at the one hand palm isolation is keeping your hand nice and flat. It does not really matter if your finger tips curl up a little as you move from point to point, but just do not curl them up too much. One tip to keep in mind is to move your arm from your elbow in a circular motion, and try not to move your wrist while you do this. You will have this down successfully in no time as your Fushigi ball looks as if it is floating in mid air.
