Two Great Event Facilities in Silicon Valley
As home to some of the world’s biggest tech corporations and a hub of venture capital investment, the Santa Clara valley knows how to work and how to have fun. In Sunnyvale, the Historic Del Monte Building is an icon, having stood for a century through the astounding changes that have occurred in the city. But for its iconic status, it had a really humble beginning, starting out as a hayloft pieced together with redwood slabs next to the railroad tracks on Evelyn Avenue. For years it functioned as a drying and packing warehouse for fruit, before being saved from demolition by the California Packing Corporation, which eventually became Del Monte. The company needed a seed operations site, and the building became the Sunnyvale Seed Germinating Laboratory.
By the late 1980s and early 1990s it faced demolition, until it was bought and moved in 1993, then renovated with retail space. Today it stands proud as an event space for parties, weddings, banquets, and other functions. It is all the more enjoyable so because of the rich history of the building. Though the interior is definitely traditional, you probably wouldn’t guess that it used to be a seed laboratory. With chandeliers, intricate crown molding and other elegant touches, the Historic Del Monte Building is both classy and classic, which makes it a great place for all of life’s celebrations from getting married, to celebrating a 50th anniversary, or hosting a company holiday party. Villa Ragusa is another terrific events space worth checking out. Located in the heart of charming downtown Campbell, it’s the kind of place where you’d be proud to host an unforgettable gathering. With 12,000 square feet of event space, this venue can accommodate parties of 75 to 600. Villa Ragusa has a European style, with lots of mahogany woodwork, a marble foyer and balconies that encompass the event space, which are not only beautiful, but make terrific vantage points for your event photographer.
