When should you use Foil Tape?
Use Foil Tape when you want to secure joints on Fiberglass Duct Wrap and Fiberglass Board.
When do you use 3in. wide vs 4in. wide Foil Tape and Cold Weather vs Standard Foil Tape?
Foil Tape is generally used on fiberglass duct wrap and fiberglass board to secure the joints. On duct wrap, 3in. wide Foil Tape is always used. On Fiberglass board, 4in. wide Foil Tape is used on 2in. thick fiberglass board and 5in. on 3in. thick. It is wise to use cold weather tape when temperatures are below freezing. Many tradesmen use foil tape for other applications. Unlike other insulation tapes, foil tape is unreinforced and tears easily and evenly.
Foil tape or the most widespread aluminum foil tape is commonly utilized for sealing seams and joints of metal sheets and their link with the flexible duct. Foil tapes are often used in air conditioning systems to seal joints of bendable ducts to the air vents.
