The Best Time of the Year – Cornhole Season
The winter is a great season for snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing and spending time indoors with whoever is closest to you. What winter is not great for is playing cornhole. We all know that cornhole is just not the same indoors. Yes, you can setup a game of cornhole in a gym, warehouse or really large basement with a high ceiling, but is it really the same game? I don’t think so and you are welcome to disagree with me.
Spring through Fall is the time to setup your cornhole set, outside. In the spring, I play cornhole at MLB games with my friends (even girlfriends). It fits in the trunk of your car and takes two minutes to setup: one minute to unfold the set and the other minute to count off the 27 feet necessary to play regulation cornhole. With baseball games being as cheap as they are, this is an every weekend event and one that won’t put a hole in your pocket either.
Summertime is my favorite season for cornhole. You have baseball games, concerts, backyard barbeques, weekend get togethers with friends and all you need is a cornhole set to play with. This game goes along with all of those festivities along with grilling burgers, throwing the pigskin around and just enjoying the company of anyone who wants to have a little competition with their party.
The fall is a no brainer on what to bring your cornhole set to: football games. I was turned onto the cornhole game when I was 16 years old in Pittsburgh at a Pitt football game tailgate. While it originated in Ohio or Kentucky (there’s still some fierce competition on who created the game) and while it doesn’t matter where it is from, what we do know is that cornhole is nation wide now. I live in Denver and when I was at the Monday Night Football game between the Steelers and Broncos, I saw custom cornhole bags and sets all over the parking lot. I asked around and most people had just paid for an awesome custom set of their favorite teams, but also people had spent the time and energy into painting and building their own sets. Believe me there are some amazing sites out there that provide a quality product so just keep your eyes open for a good deal.
If you don’t have your own set yet don’t worry, the season is just beginning. Do yourself a favor and save up about $180 for a quality cornhole set and bags for this cornhole season, you won’t be disappointed as all of your friends compliment your set. It also gives you bragging rights for an entire season, so enjoy this cornhole season with your beautiful set this year!
