Striped Pashminas – The Height of Style and Elegance, and Slimming Too
Pashminas, those sumptuously soft, wonderfully warm and exquisitely elegant scarves and shawls which have become such an indispensable part of nearly every woman’s wardrobe, come in a huge variety of colors and styles to suit modern misses and traditional ladies alike. No matter what the occasion or the time of day, they represent the most perfect and versatile of all accessories, lending a sense of style, sophistication, color and interest to any outfit, however they are worn.
While some of the beautiful examples of pashminas that you will see available are plain in color and completely devoid of design, making them ideal for wearing with patterned outfits, others have a design which covers the entire accessory. Another style that you will find, however, which is particularly attractive, is the striped pashmina. Some of these simply have plain stripes of wonderfully coordinating colors, but others have a patterned stripe either down the center or to one of the sides. These latter examples have a particular style and elegance about them which is hard to resist.
Although sometimes there is no better alternative than a plain pashmina scarf or shawl, the thing about one which has a stripe of pattern is that it often looks entirely different each and every time you wear it. The fabric never falls or folds in exactly the same way, so if, for example, you simply wrap it around your neck and throw it across your shoulder, you will never have the same proportion of plain or patterned fabric on show, nor the same part of the pattern. Even though you wear the same pashmina time and time again, it will always look slightly different, and sometimes even so different that your friends will take it for a completely new accessory.
Another one of the fabulous things about striped pashminas is that because the stripe runs lengthwise down the fabric, the accessory has a wonderfully slimming effect which also makes the wearer look taller. Simply draped around the back of the neck and left to hang down the front of the body, draped across one shoulder so that it hangs from front to back or even just around the back and over the arms, the stripe in the fabric will lead the onlooker’s eye from top to bottom so that there is a greater impression of height, and with it, a lesser impression of width. Because there is nothing to stop the eye as it travels from head to toe and back again, it registers the vertical rather than the horizontal.
Of course, so that the beautiful pattern stands out to a greater extent, many of the striped pashminas that you will find have a striped panel which is darker than the plain panels and this creates a particularly stunning effect. That doesn’t mean to say, however, that all striped pashminas are necessarily dark in color. There are those, for example, which start with the palest of pinks on one edge, progress to a slightly duskier pink in the center and then finish with a beautiful dove gray down the other side. The styles and designs are simply endless and there is a striped pashmina which is perfect for every woman who is looking for a touch of style and elegance.
