A Fast Look At Safety Vest
A safety vests is used for the purpose of preventing accidents which could cost the life of the individual, but they are also used to help identify the type of worker. They can be used in other areas of life, which might not have been considered. Let’s take a quick look at some rather practical uses for these items of clothing.
Surveyors Vests, as sometimes called, are made in different sizes and colors which can range from the usual bright colors of caution orange, yellow and lime, to darker colors which might also have reflective stripes sewn into the fabric. OSHA laws require construction workers to wear these vests, not only to protect themselves from not being seen, but to help identify who is on the job site. The fluorescent colors are extremely visible, and are quickly identifiable by any person who may be on the site, including tourists who are being show the construction project. Any work area which presents a potential for accidents to occur, which can threaten life and limb, is under these same laws.
Crowd control for a public event can include employees who are responsible for a variety of tasks. The people who are parking cars, and those who sell and accept tickets at the gate, are also required to wear safety vests. In many cases, the people who are attending an event will start looking for a person wearing this type of attire, when a situation arises that either needs emergency assistance, or to find out information about the facility.
Some people enjoy snow skiing, and might wear one of these vests to help ensure they are visible to other skiers, or rescue services. Water skiing is another place where these jackets can help identify that someone is there, and allow water craft operators to avoid striking them.
Children are attracted to bright colors, and parents are beginning to use these vests to help protect their children from oncoming cars, and other pedestrians. The kids find a way to turn them into the “Make Believe” game, as heroes of fame, such as firefighters, policemen, and high rise construction workers.
Exercisers wear these jackets to help protect them when riding their bikes, or taking a walk for cardiovascular health. Employees who do roadside cleanup wear them to protect themselves from being struck down by a passing car. People who enjoy mountain climbing, or those who engage in remote camping, like to wear these to help ensure that if an emergency were to occur, search and rescue efforts could be faster in finding them and getting medical care.
Walking around the roadway can be dangerous, especially when it is dark and your car is stalled at the side of the road. When a cellphone won’t find a signal and you must get emergency help, wearing a safety vests can help prevent being run over by another car. There is no way to know what the future holds in store, and some type of situation arises which would be a good reason to have one of these jackets or a orange t-shirt with you.
